No 4 Tactical is your Premier Firearms Training Center in Northern New York. Located on 11 Acres in Central Lewis County, it is ideally suited for all your training needs. Sporting a 25 yard tactical handgun range and a 100 yard rifle range just out back of the Gun shop and Classroom.

Here at No 4 Tactical, we take Safety very seriously and all classes are run strictly adhering to the NRA safe firearm handling guidelines.

Whether you have questions about the Pistol Permit Application process, needing a refresher about safe gun handling or are interested in sharpening your shooting skills, we have something for you.

REQUIRED IN LEWIS COUNTY PRIOR TO SUBMITTING YOUR PISTOL PERMIT APPLICATION

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Phase II - $75                                                       5 hours in length.     Classroom and range

Class size: Min 4    Max 9

REQUIRED IN LEWIS COUNTY WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF OBTAINING YOUR PISTOL PERMIT. (TAKEN AFTER COMPLETION OF PHASE I)

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is a two-part course consisting of an e-learning portion (completed online-in your own time frame) and a hands-on practical portion conducted at a range under the guidance and supervision of an NRA-Certified Instructor. The course is intended for all adults regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation.

Some of the topics in the course include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, selecting and storing a pistol, the fundamentals of shooting, and pistol inspection and maintenance. 

 

 

NRA Defensive Pistol - $140                                                                                   7 hours in length.  Classroom and range

Class size: Min 4   Max 9

Teaches the knowledge, skills, and attitude to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and with confidence.

The NRA Defensive Pistol Course will focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. The goal of the course will be to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and with confidence. As a result of participating in this course, the student will be able to explain and demonstrate the following: How to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm, basic principles of concealment, the difference between cover and concealment, drawing from the holster, levels of mental awareness, developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection, clearing common stoppages, use of pocket pistols, and more.

 

 

NRA Personal Protection in the Home - $165                                                        8 hours in length.          Classroom and range

Class size: Min 4   Max 9

RECOMMENDED FOR THOSE INDIVIDUALS KEEPING A FIREARM IN THE HOME FOR PROTECTION

Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense.

This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development.

 

NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home - $230                                            14 hours in length.        Classroom and range

RECOMMENDED FOR THOSE INDIVIDUALS WITH AN UNRESTRICTED PISTOL PERMIT WHO INTEND TO CARRY A CONCEALED FIREARM. (TAKEN AFTER COMPLETION OF PERSONAL PROTECTION IN THE HOME)

Teaches students the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home.

  Day one is nine-hours and offers the essential knowledge and skills that must be mastered in order to carry, store, and use a firearm safely and effectively for personal protection outside the home. Students spend several hours on the range and shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition during day one.  During day two, which is an additional five hours on the range and approximately 115 rounds of ammunition students learn advanced shooting skills.

 

 

NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting - $115                                                                        8 hours.           Classroom and range

RECOMMENDED FOR THOSE INDIVIDUALS WANTING TO LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF RIFLE SHOOTING

Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting.

This course is at least 8 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development.

 

 

NRA Home Firearm Safety - $50                                                                             4 hours     Classroom only

GEARED TOWARDS INDIVIDUALS LOOKING TO LEARN THE BASICS OF FIREARM SAFETY IN THE HOME

Non-shooting course and teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and to explain the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home.

This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports.

 

 

NRA Refuse to be a Victim - $40                                                                             4 hours            Classroom only

Class size: Min 4   Max 9                                                          Larger group sessions can be held offsite

Ideal for preparing students going off to college or moving into a new area

Teaches strategies people can integrate into their everyday lives to avoid becoming a victim of crime.

A complete seminar may last as long as four or five hours and include the entire lesson plan, but a modified seminar may be as short as one or two hours and cover topics that best suit the needs of a particular audience. This is not a firearms instruction course, and does not include instruction in physical combat self-defense. Seminars teach common weaknesses that criminals may take advantage of, and a variety of corrective measures that are practical, inexpensive and easy to follow. The seminar includes classroom instruction on criminal psychology, automobile crimes; cyber safety, home security, and a variety of crime prevention strategies including carjack avoidance techniques, use of personal safety devices, and more. 

 

 

NRA Range Safety Officer - $115                                                                            9 hours       Classroom only

Class size: Min 4   Max 9

GEARED TOWARDS INDIVIDUALS IN CHARGE OF SHOOTING RANGE SAFETY

Develops NRA Certified Range Safety Officers with the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

This course is nine hours long and is conducted in a classroom and at a shooting facility. Range Safety Officer candidates will learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO; Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); range inspection; range rules; range briefings; emergency procedures; and firearm stoppages and malfunctions.

Included in the cost of the above courses.

At certain times during the year No 4 Tactical holds supervised range practices at $15/hour per shooter.

Patron Level Customers pay $10/hour
